Andrea Stramaccioni analyzed the moment of the Italian National Team in an interview given to Il Messaggero. The coach expressed a positive opinion about the new cycle, with a particular focus on Nicolò Barella and Sebastiano Esposito.

“I have always been positive about this new cycle. I can’t say I was sure of its success, but I really hoped for it,” Stramaccioni declared to the microphones of the Roman newspaper. The coach then explained the reasons for the Azzurri’s revival: “It’s a mix: the coach’s ideas, the historic core, and the freshness of the new call-ups.”

On the real change compared to the past, despite the presence of many protagonists already seen before, the coach highlighted one aspect: “The conviction to follow the path indicated by your coach. Concepts that the team follows with great commitment.”

There was then space for Esposito, who received significant praise: “He deserves a special mention, yes. When I see him so focused and motivated, I think he can raise the level.” Finally, regarding Barella and his alternating role between starter and substitute, Stramaccioni clarified: “Nicolò is a fundamental player for this National Team and Mancini knows him better than anyone, he was decisive even in his first Italy. Whether starter or substitute, Barella represents us.”
