Speaking to Sky Sport, Nicolò Barella gave an assessment of the Nerazzurri’s season on the eve of the match against Udinese at San Siro. The vice-captain of Inter analyzed the team’s moment after the recent defeat in the Champions League.
“We definitely saw what could have been done better. From defeats we have to take the positive things,” began Barella. “Against Real we played openly against one of the strongest teams in the world and had our chances. That’s what everyone has expected from Inter in recent years: we definitely need to fine-tune the details, but it’s only the start of the season, we’ll have time to prove it.”
On the topic of motivation and defending the title, the midfielder has no doubts: “I say that the league is a stage race and you have to be focused on every match, even if some are more appealing and others less so. But they all give three points. The imperative is always to try to win. We have the Scudetto sewn on our chest. We want to make it hard for anyone who tries to take it from us.”
Finally, a reflection on the internal competition within the group: “It’s useful, it helps everyone improve. It keeps you on your toes. Champions of international caliber have arrived who give us a sense of how things work in other clubs. It’s a strong team that wants to try to go all the way in every competition. That’s what we’ll try to do.”
