As the end of the transfer window approaches, rumors are once again circulating about a possible interest from Barcelona in Lautaro Martinez. The Catalan club, however, is still waiting for developments regarding another target.
Fabrizio Romano has outlined the situation for the Blaugrana, who continue to hope for a breakthrough from Atletico Madrid for Julian Alvarez. The next few days will be decisive: if the negotiations remain stalled, the Catalan management will change strategy.
“This week will be important for Julian Alvarez. So far, Barcelona has kept its word to the player’s agent: they are still waiting for him and have not made concrete moves for other players. Therefore, Barcelona is still hopeful. But, as of today, Atletico Madrid has absolutely not opened the door. Barcelona’s position is: if something happens and things change this week, it would still be worth pushing for Julian Alvarez. But, if as has been the case so far, Atletico’s position does not change by the end of the week, from next week Barça will start exploring the market for alternatives and considering other forwards. It all depends on Atletico, which so far has absolutely not given the green light.”
The pressure for the Argentine continues, but the sticking point remains the refusal of the Colchoneros. Without concrete signals soon, Barcelona will have to turn to other offensive profiles to strengthen their attack.
