During one of his updates, Sky journalist Andrea Paventi also addressed the issue regarding the future of Yann Sommer. As has been known for some time, Inter is monitoring several profiles for the starting role next season. Vicario seems to be the favorite, but there are also other profiles on the radar such as Hornicek from Braga, Caprile from Cagliari, or even Alisson from Liverpool.
The news reported by Paventi, however, concerns a possible stay of Sommer in Milan: “He has a chance to stay as the second-choice for me”, says the journalist. However, Sommer “has also received offers from Switzerland and wouldn’t mind returning to his homeland”, he concludes. The Swiss goalkeeper arrived in Milan in the summer of 2023 and his contract with the Nerazzurri will expire on June 30, 2026. Considering he is already 37 years old, it still seems complicated to imagine a renewal that would allow him to continue as the starting goalkeeper for another season in the Nerazzurri shirt.
