The appointment had been in the air for days, but now it is official: Daniele Doveri will referee the derby between Milan and Inter, scheduled for Sunday evening at 8:45 PM at San Siro for the 28th matchday of the championship.
The referee selector Gianluca Rocchi has chosen the referee from the Rome 1 section for the Milan city derby, which represents a potentially decisive turning point in the race for the Scudetto. Doveri will be assisted by Baccini and Berti, while the fourth official will be Marchetti. Abisso has been appointed to the VAR, with Di Bello as AVAR.
Doveri has already refereed Inter on three occasions this season, with two wins against Verona and Genoa and a draw in the big match against Napoli. Overall, there have been 39 previous matches across all competitions in which the Nerazzurri have achieved 16 wins, 13 draws, and 10 defeats.
