Inter is moving decisively for Cristian Romero, the top name on their list to strengthen the defense. The Nerazzurri club is working on two fronts: negotiations with Tottenham and contacts with the player’s entourage. The goal is to close the deal quickly to prevent competitors from getting involved.
According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri management can count on an advantageous position compared to other clubs interested in the Argentine defender. Romero is on the market with his transfer available and relations with the Spurs environment have deteriorated: in the last two months of last season, he went to Argentina to recover from an injury and prepare for the World Cup, instead of staying in London with the team fighting for survival. In recent hours, De Zerbi has invited “anyone who is not happy to leave.”
The defender’s profile is attracting the attention of several European clubs. In Spain, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are considering him, while in England his name has been linked to Arsenal and Chelsea, who, however, already have several center-backs available.
The Nerazzurri’s advantage is concrete: the club does not need to sell before buying. With the departures of Acerbi and De Vrij and a budget of 40 million still unused, net of exits, the club has room to maneuver. However, timing remains crucial: it is not possible to wait too long.
