The experiment of Cristian Chivu on the right flank could turn into a definitive solution. Andy Diouf, who scored a decisive brace in the comeback win against Karlsruher, is convincing the Romanian coach in his new role as a winger, even though the Frenchman’s natural position is in midfield.
According to Tuttosport, the market for that area of the pitch has frozen after negotiations for Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili fell through. The internal solution represented by the former Lens player is taking shape, even if so far it has only been tested in friendly matches.
Chivu wants to continue with this tactical transformation, trying above all to convince the player himself. Diouf, a few days ago, reiterated that he feels more comfortable as a midfielder. “We talk a lot in training, now we have time to work. It’s not easy to be in a new position, but I’ll do my best and we’ll see,” the Frenchman said after yesterday’s match.
The brace against Karlsruher is an encouraging sign for the Nerazzurri coach, who will continue to work on the player’s versatility during summer preparations.
