Benjamin Pavard remains an unresolved issue for Inter. The French defender, who returned from his loan at Marseille, was considered certain to leave but the situation appears more complicated than expected.
Paolo Condò, in his editorial for Corriere della Sera, analyzed the position of the center-back after his performance in yesterday’s friendly derby against Milan. The journalist highlighted the contradiction between his performance on the pitch and the player’s contractual situation.
“Pavard also played well, but he earns too much to be the second reserve in the role — which he is today — yet he struggles to find a suitor who will free Inter from the burden of his salary: if the stalemate continues, he will end up staying,” wrote Condò.
Coach Chivu also started him in the latest friendly, a sign that the Frenchman continues to be considered available for the squad. The main obstacle to a transfer remains his high salary, which discourages potential buyers and complicates the plans of the Nerazzurri club.
