There is a new name on the list of goalkeepers that Inter could rush to sign in the coming months. The Nerazzurri club, which will lose Yann Sommer at the end of this season due to his contract expiring, has been working on this front for some time, in an attempt not to be caught unprepared when the need for a new goalkeeper arises.
In recent weeks, three main candidates have emerged, two of whom are from Serie A: from Elia Caprile of Cagliari to Suzuki of Parma, and from the Bundesliga, the 23-year-old German owned by Freiburg, Noah Atubolu. All are very viable names that greatly intrigue the Nerazzurri management, but they could come with significant costs.
From here, as written this morning by Tuttosport, the idea has emerged of targeting a surplus player from the Premier League: Illan Meslier. The French goalkeeper, born in 2000, is in fact set to leave Leeds United, which wants to sell him as soon as possible to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer, when his contract expires.
The English club would therefore like to sell him as early as January, although Inter does not seem to have the same urgency. The situation is similar for Milan, another club tracking the goalkeeper, but which may only need to replace Maignan (also out of contract) next June. In any case, a possible deal for Meslier could be facilitated by agent Pini Zahavi, who last summer finalized the Diouf deal with Lens for Inter.
