The transfer of Anan Khalaili to Inter is entering its decisive phase. After skipping the friendly between Union Saint-Gilloise and Steaua Bucharest, the Israeli winger has been given the green light to also miss the weekend fixture, an unmistakable sign of the desire to speed up his move to the Nerazzurri.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are no physical problems: Khalaili simply informed the Belgian club’s management that he preferred to rest to avoid any mishaps that could jeopardize the deal. Saint-Gilloise agreed to the request, aware that they could pocket around twenty million in capital gains from the sale of the player, who was bought from Maccabi Haifa for 6.5 million a couple of seasons ago.

The final agreement between the two clubs still needs to be defined, but the gap has narrowed significantly in recent days. Inter aims to close the deal without exceeding 25 million, while Saint-Gilloise, taking advantage of the limited competition for such a profile in the right winger role, is looking to maximize their earnings. An agreement with the player has already been reached: a five-year contract worth about 1.7 million per season.

Khalaili hopes to consider himself virtually an Inter player by July 11, the date of Saint-Gilloise‘s next friendly against Aarhus. The market dynamics are proceeding, with the gap expected to narrow until the deal is finalized.
