Curtis Jones is not just a box-to-box midfielder. The Liverpool midfielder can also play as a right full-back along the entire flank, and this is another reason why Cristian Chivu continues to strongly request him from the Nerazzurri management. According to Tuttosport, in the last two Premier League matches, the Englishman has spent almost all his time on the wing, demonstrating versatility and tactical intelligence.
The Inter coach considers him the ideal profile to complete the midfield, because he is convinced that he does not currently have a player in the squad with those attacking qualities. In the absence of a specialist for the right flank who convinces everyone, Jones could represent an additional solution. The problem is that, after missing out on Palestra and Khalaili, the Nerazzurri club has not yet identified a profile that simultaneously satisfies both technical and economic requirements.
Securing the English midfielder would allow them to approach the last week of the transfer window with greater peace of mind, when the window of opportunities inevitably opens. Chivu would finally have one of the players expressly requested in meetings with the directors to set up the transfer campaign. But an effort is needed from the ownership for a deal worth 40 million euros.
Liverpool continues to demand this amount despite the player’s contract expiring in June 2027. For his part, Jones is doing everything possible to show his commitment to the Nerazzurri cause: he liked the news of Stones arriving at Inter and denied a possible agreement with Nottingham Forest, causing negotiations between the clubs to collapse. However, Inter has not yet found the strength to make the decisive move.
