The absence of Curtis Jones in Liverpool’s last three friendlies is fueling suspicions of an imminent departure. The English midfielder did not take the field against Monaco or in the double match against Como, with the club justifying his absence due to a hip problem. However, according to some observers, these absences may be hiding ongoing negotiations with Inter.
The mutual interest between the two parties dates back to last January, when the deal did not go through due to a series of unfavorable circumstances. In the following months, however, the connection has progressively strengthened. But it’s what happened on the pitch that has made the most noise. During the friendly against Wrexham, a heated exchange with teammate Szoboszlai went viral on social media. According to some English fans who paid close attention to lip reading, Curtis allegedly said a telling phrase: “Listen, I’m fed up: I can’t stay at this club anymore.” Although it’s not possible to verify the exact content of his words, the midfielder’s expressions and gestures seem to confirm this interpretation.
The last sign is precisely the three consecutive absences in the summer friendlies. A hip problem is the official explanation, but doubts remain. The combination of social media clues, the outburst with Szoboszlai, and the close absences paints a picture that leaves room for interpretations beyond the purely physical. Negotiations with Inter may have entered a decisive phase.
