The search for a winger by Inter is proceeding slowly. The Nerazzurri club has put the operation on hold, focusing on the negotiations for Romero, but the main reason is another: none of the profiles examined fully satisfy the technical and economic needs of the club.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the right fit is needed from every point of view, but the current candidates on the table do not guarantee this. Even Spence, long considered a concrete option, does not fully convince. The Englishman has physicality, pace, and intensity—certainly appreciated qualities—but he lacks the ability to take on and beat his man, a characteristic instead present in Palestra and Khalaili.
Faced with Tottenham’s request for 40 million, those at viale Liberazione, together with Chivu, have decided to ease off. A new attempt in the future is not ruled out, but not in the immediate term.
For similar reasons, Inter also has reservations about other names: Douè costs too much, Molina made too many mistakes at the World Cup, Read is still considered unripe, and Belghali is not physically structured enough. A final decision has not yet been made, but in the meantime, the Perisic option remains on the table.
The Croatian is 37 years old, but physically he is still intact, as also demonstrated at the World Cup. He knows Serie A and the Nerazzurri environment, as well as having the desired technical characteristics. PSV Eindhoven, unlike last January, would let him go in exchange for a reduced compensation, and the player himself would settle for a lower salary just to return. The rest of the work on the right flank would fall to Diouf and Luis Henrique, who would be called upon to share the role with Perisic without lowering the level.
