River Plate is considering the sale of Santiago Beltran, a young goalkeeper who came up through the club’s youth academy. Inter, through Javier Zanetti, has already inquired about his availability ahead of the next transfer window. The player’s situation, until a few weeks ago considered untouchable, could change in the face of an adequate offer.
The Argentine club is going through a difficult period: an early elimination from the Copa Sudamericana and a defeat against Huracan in the last match of the Clausura tournament have reignited doubts among the fans. The chances of qualifying for the next Copa Libertadores have been seriously compromised, despite the arrival of Leonardo Ponzio, which seemed to have brought improvements.
Beltran’s rise has been rapid and unexpected. Franco Armani started the year as the first-choice goalkeeper, but an Achilles tendon injury opened the door for the youngster, who quickly became one of the team’s key players. Journalist Gustavo Yarroch revealed that the goalkeeper will soon be sold to a European club, with Manchester United and Inter appearing to be the main candidates.
So far, no official offers have arrived. River Plate has time to negotiate: Beltran is under contract with the club until December 2027, and negotiations are already underway for a renewal and an increase in the release clause, which would rise from the current 25 million to 100 million dollars. The goalkeeper shares the same agent as Emiliano Martinez, through an agency present in both the Argentine and European markets.
