The season of the new Inter led by Cristian Chivu is going well and it is one of only three teams in Europe that is at the top both in its league and in the Champions League (along with Bayern and Arsenal). Despite this, in 2026 the Nerazzurri management will have to intervene in the market with a very specific goal.
As has been known for some time, Inter needs to strengthen its defensive department since in June it could lose Acerbi, Darmian, and De Vrij all at once. One of the first targets of the Milanese club is Mario Gila from Lazio, and today the newspaper Repubblica highlights how Sarri has placed a veto on his departure in January:
“Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are closely monitoring the situation regarding Mario Gila: the Spaniard’s contract expires in 2027 and Lazio values him at 30-35 million euros. Sarri has placed a veto on a possible sale of Gila in January, but if the requested money were to arrive, at that point the former Real Madrid player could leave.”
