One of the biggest dilemmas among Inter fans regarding the future of the team concerns the goalkeeper department. As already analyzed in our video today, there are some question marks about the decision to continue relying on Yann Sommer as Inter’s number one, given that age is also catching up with him.
However, according to TMW, Inter is also considering the possibility of somewhat surprisingly offering a contract renewal until 2027 to the Swiss goalkeeper. At that point, it will be up to coach Cristian Chivu to decide whether to entrust the Inter goal to Sommer even in the 2026/27 season.
It still remains possible that the starting spot could go to Josep Martinez, who this season will have to continue to show reliability in order to convince all of Inter to entrust him with the number 1 role, while waiting to see if the management will actually offer another one-year extension to Sommer.
