Inter will have to face an important choice for the goalkeeper position next season, with the need to identify who will inherit Sommer‘s legacy. Among the most discussed profiles is Guglielmo Vicario, currently at Tottenham, who in the past worked with Walter Zenga during their time at Cagliari.
The former Nerazzurri goalkeeper, interviewed by Tuttosport, spoke bluntly about the possibility of seeing the Italian goalkeeper between the posts for Inter: “If you ask me about Vicario at Inter, you’re preaching to the choir. I have no doubts and I’ll tell you right away: yes. We’re talking about a really strong goalkeeper and a decent guy. I would particularly like to see him between the posts for Inter, but the names of Caprile and Carnesecchi would be just as valid.”
Zenga also highlighted the human qualities of his former pupil, describing him as a person who has remained true to his values despite his success: “Vic has a great virtue: he lives for football and doesn’t use football to live. That’s no small thing these days, trust me. He’s always remained the same guy he was at the beginning: money and success haven’t changed him at all. That’s no small quality.”
On a technical level, the Spider-Man has no doubts about the goalkeeper’s abilities: “He’s a strong, complete goalkeeper: explosive between the posts. If I played him back then, there was a reason.” Words that confirm the esteem of someone who has had the chance to work directly with Vicario and has followed his professional growth.
