The director of Corriere dello Sport, Ivan Zazzaroni, wrote an editorial today in which he analyzes the figure of Antonio Conte and his relationship with Juventus. According to the journalist, the ghost of the former coach continues to hover over Continassa, with a presence that many would sense without seeing it directly.
Zazzaroni claims that the president of Inter, Giuseppe Marotta, acted to prevent a possible return of Conte to the Juventus bench. “The possibility of his return is so plausible that it led Marotta to do everything possible to prevent it from happening soon,” writes the director. According to this account, the football environment is convinced that Marotta “suggested” him as national team coach “just to get him out of the way for at least a couple of years.”
The editorial also focuses on Luciano Spalletti. The journalist believes that he leads “a team that does not yet seem to be his, he endures it but protects it,” adding that for his skill he would deserve something different. Zazzaroni concludes with a reference to the “recent downsizing of Chiellini,” which according to some rumors is due to the fact that he was the one who pushed the most for Spalletti’s renewal.
