Leaving behind the national team break, the Serie A will finally return this weekend. Up to this point the championship has been very exciting, we left it before the break in an absurd ranking situation open to all possible scenarios.
As we wait for the thirteenth matchday, Napoli leads the standings at 26 points, followed by a group of four teams only one point behind: Inter, Atalanta, Lazio and Fiorentina. Slightly lower, with 24 points, is Juventus.
A Serie A that in recent years has rarely been so contested and that, as mentioned in the opening, can reserve any kind of surprise from matchday to matchday. To get a better idea of what we can expect going forward, we turned to the algorithm used by Opta Analyst to ‘predict’ what the future holds for us and who might win the championship.
According to this algorithm, which simulates the progress of the season taking into account several coefficients, the number one candidate to win the Scudetto remains Inter with a 64.6% chance. In statistical terms, Simone Inzaghi’s team is still considered the clear favourite compared to the competitors.
Somewhat surprisingly, the second most fancied team is Gasperini’s Atalanta with a 17.4% chance of winning the Scudetto. Behind the Bergamo team we find Juventus 7% and Lazio 5.1%, while Antonio Conte’s Napoli, surprisingly, falls out of the top 4 and is fifth with a 3.8% league success possibility. Just after is Fiorentina with 1.6%, and a disappointing Milan, under Fonseca, is far behind with 0.5%.
