According to Alessandro Vocalelli, journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter would need one last piece to make the definitive leap in quality. Although they are the strongest team in the league and the favorite for the next title, the Nerazzurri would be missing an element capable of making the difference in decisive moments.
The Nerazzurri collective is fundamental because it enhances individual qualities, but having a playmaker would be just as important. However, this is a tendency that the Milanese club has not embraced, even though in the past they considered profiles like Dybala five years ago and more recently Nico Paz. The current squad does not have a classic number ten, considering that Calhanoglu has transformed into an inimitable playmaker.
Vocalelli wonders precisely about this aspect: “One wonders: but even for such a strong, structured Inter, and therefore hardly improvable, couldn’t the further leap come precisely from someone like this, a fantasista, a number 10, capable of breaking down defenses with a dribble or an invention?”
The journalist’s reflection revolves around the possibility that an already consolidated and top-level team could grow even further thanks to the addition of a pure attacking midfielder, able to resolve matches with decisive individual plays.
