Nicolò Barella dominated the match against Cagliari, his former club, with a performance that brought to mind the best Nerazzurri midfielder. This was highlighted by Riccardo Trevisani, who, during the Fontana di Trevi show on Cronache di Spogliatoio, commented bluntly on what he saw on the pitch.
According to the journalist, number 23 of Inter was by far the best player on the field. “He had eight unworthy months last year. I say unworthy precisely because of the player he is. The player he was on Sunday. He dominated. There were two Barellas on the pitch. Every recovery was Barella, every play was Barella, every counterattack was Barella. He played a phenomenal match yesterday,” declared Trevisani.
The commentator then added a broader reflection on the midfielder’s performances: “When I see Barella play like he did during those eight months, it’s right to say that Barella has to do much more. When I see Barella play like he did yesterday, I say that Inter has a fantastic midfielder.”
The analysis then broadened to the current moment of the Nerazzurri team. “Barella is in a down phase, Bastoni since Inter-Juve had practically never recovered and this team needed some vitamins, I don’t know how else to put it,” explained Trevisani. However, the journalist identified signs of awakening already at the end of last season: “Already at the end of last season Barella showed signs of awakening. The last ten. Yes, from Inter-Roma onwards Thuram, Barella… those players showed signs of awakening.”
Finally, an assessment of the transfer market: “There was only a need to integrate the market and in any case one of the problems, the biggest for me, the goalkeeper, has been solved. So already half of Inter’s troubles have been resolved.”
