The January transfer window is approaching and the first rumors of interest from abroad for Inter’s star players are beginning to surface. In recent days, speculation regarding Liverpool targeting Marcus Thuram has re-emerged, and now additional confirmations have arrived.
Inter is certainly satisfied with the performance of its number 9 and would not willingly part ways with its current leading scorer in Serie A. However, a substantial offer from the Reds could potentially destabilize the Nerazzurri, as Thuram arrived in Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Liverpool are not deterred by the release clause in Thuram’s contract, reported to be around 85 million euros. In the event of the clause being triggered, Inter would make a full profit, which could be very beneficial in terms of their balance sheet, as seen with the previous sales of Lukaku, Onana and Hakimi.
The intentions of the player himself remain to be understood. He has always said he is happy in Milan and his performance has been excellent. However, facing a much more lucrative contract offer from the English club, he might reconsider. If Thuram did leave, Inter already has a plan B in place.
