Marcus Thuram commented to DAZN microphones on the draw achieved by Inter at the Olimpico against Roma. The French striker analyzed the performance of the Nerazzurri, which was clearly divided between the two halves.
“Why, I don’t know, but we had to react and we did it in the second half,” explained Thuram about the initial difficulties. “We know there’s a whole second half and we have to do everything to get back into the game.” The number 9 dismissed the idea of underestimating their opponent: “I don’t think so, we all knew that Roma is one of the strongest teams at the moment and they had a fantastic first half. We had to react and we did.”
On the topic of the French national team, from which he has been excluded in the latest call-ups, the striker showed calmness: “These are choices to be respected. He wants to see new faces, I have to work and do what I’m doing at Inter. I think I’ll get back to the national team.” With irony, he then spoke about his teammate Diouf, on his first call-up with Senegal: “I told him who to talk to and who not to,” he said, laughing.
On the tactical approach requested by the coach, Thuram clarified: “No, the coach had asked us to do it in the first half as well, but we did it better in the second.” On the comparison with last season, he cut it short: “It wasn’t a match, we were at Inter last year…” Finally, about the chance he had during the game: “I haven’t watched it again yet, I wanted to catch him off guard because he was running to one side and I wanted to shoot to the other.”
