The atmosphere in the Nerazzurri household has radically changed compared to twelve months ago. Last summer, the team was coming off a season without titles and a club tournament that had prevented any break. Today, the context is the opposite: the season that ended six weeks ago brought a league title and the Coppa Italia. Cristian Chivu was able to plan a traditional pre-season with his staff.
“This type of athletic preparation in Germany, consisting of double training sessions and a combined workout between the gym and the pitch (with and without the ball), is an advantage, a way to better set up all the work until the start of the championship and to organize the back-to-back at home, that is, to impose ourselves again both in the league and in the Coppa Italia. Since the Juventus of 2019 and 2020, the one that closed the cycle of nine consecutive league titles, no team in Serie A that has won the title has managed to repeat for two consecutive seasons. Chivu has said it: he wants to try, he wants to win again. The journey is long, but it has already started from Germany,” emphasizes the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The German pre-season path therefore represents a concrete opportunity to lay the foundations for defending the title, a challenge that has been missing in the league since the Bianconeri’s two-year run in 2019-2020.
