The hat-trick scored in the Champions League against Inter has put Tresoldi in the spotlight, also reigniting the debate over which national team he will choose in the future. His father Emanuele responded in an interview with Sky Sport.
“It was a match that left us speechless,” said Emanuele Tresoldi. “We didn’t expect it because it’s a situation we could never have predicted. But it happened, and we’re all happy it turned out this way.” That evening the father was in the stands; after the final whistle, the family stayed in Milan to meet Nicolò and the team. “There were celebrations and congratulations,” he added.
On the media front, the impact was immediate. “The media buzz kind of exploded,” acknowledged the father, who describes his son as “a normal, calm boy, like many others.” In the family, sport has deep roots: Nicolò’s grandfather was a golf instructor, his father is passionate about football and tennis. “Nicolò tries any sport and, when he does, he likes it and gets passionate about it,” Emanuele explained.
On the subject of nationality, Nicolò Tresoldi could be called up by Italy, Germany, or Argentina. However, his father is cautious: “I think it’s still too early. It’s not up to me to say: Nicolò is grown up and he’ll decide.” According to reports, the player has already publicly stated that he wants to finish the cycle with the Under 21 team, where he still feels useful and to which he has given his word. “He doesn’t feel like leaving it, also because he gave his word and doesn’t want to leave things unfinished. Then, if he still has the level of play needed to be called up to the senior national team, he’ll choose calmly.”
In the summer, Nicolò returns to Italy, where he spends about ten days with his family. The father’s dream for him is simple: “That he’s well, that he’s healthy, that he always has serenity, and that he has fun.”
