After the success in Bologna, Inter is preparing to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League with the goal of redeeming themselves after the first two European matchdays. As highlighted by the UEFA website, however, there is a statistical fact that the Nerazzurri will need to pay attention to.
The Ukrainians have found the net in the first half of each of their last nine matches in the competition. This statistic also includes the goal scored in the 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven on the first matchday of this edition.
Shakhtar’s overall performance in UEFA competitions tells the story of a team far from struggling: in their last 12 games, the so-called “miners” have lost only 3 times, with 6 wins and 3 draws.
For Inter, therefore, the challenge requires a careful approach right from the first minutes, considering the opponents’ tendency to strike in the opening half.
