Yann M’Vila retraced his career in an interview with the Corriere della Sera, also focusing on his brief spell at Inter in the 2014/2015 season. Today, the French midfielder plays for Sanremese in Serie D, sharing the locker room with Oan Djorkaeff, son of former striker Youri. The Ligurian club is owned by Christian Karembeu, also a former French international.

“I spoke with the management and I immediately liked the project. I had never played among amateurs before, it’s a new challenge,” M’Vila explained about his decision to start again from the fourth division. The player then retraced the highlights of his career, starting with his transfer to Rubin Kazan after his beginnings in France, when he was targeted by Barcelona and Arsenal.

“I found myself in a difficult environment, I didn’t know Russia. Those were complicated months, but I don’t regret that decision,” the midfielder recounted. About his move to the Nerazzurri, he said: “The move to Inter helped me. We were a great group, it’s just a shame I played so little, only 8 appearances. The Europa League match against Saint-Étienne is my best memory. Playing in the Nerazzurri shirt against a French team, at San Siro, was a moment I will never forget.”

The choice to join Inter was driven by specific reasons: “Other Italian teams wanted me too, but I chose Inter. We shared the desire to get back to the top. I could have done better, I would have liked to leave a good memory for the Nerazzurri fans, unfortunately it didn’t happen. Now I would like to return to Serie A with Sanremese.”
