No transfer for Aleksandar Stankovic. The young midfielder, who will turn 21 at the end of August, wants to stay at Inter and play his cards with the Nerazzurri. A choice that has found full support from Cristian Chivu. Today, the boy will already wear the number 5 shirt, the one that belonged to his father, in the joint training session against SV Aasen 1928 in Donaueschingen.
The period spent in Germany and the initial days at Appiano Gentile have confirmed the player’s growth, especially matured in the last season. The experience in Belgium and his debut in the Champions League have given the young Stankovic important awareness, the result of the continuity he had during his loan. According to Corriere dello Sport, what stood out the most is the cleanliness of his touch, considered above average. The midfielder manages the ball in tight spaces and over long distances already better than his father, who was among the greatest of his generation in Europe.
During the first training sessions, Stankovic was tried as a deep-lying playmaker in the three-man midfield. In that position, he will be able to alternate with Calhanoglu and Zielinski when necessary. However, his range of action is not limited to that role: he can also play as an inside midfielder, having shown the ability to make runs into the box and finish off plays.
Transfer rumors never turned into concrete negotiations, despite the interest of some Premier League clubs.
