After the match between Atalanta and Inter during matchday 29 of Serie A, all the head-to-head matches among the top three teams in the standings—including Napoli—have concluded. Therefore, it’s now possible to calculate a final mini-league table classifica avulsa, which allows us to determine who would play in a Scudetto playoff in the event of a points tie among all three teams at the top.

The Serie A regulation states that, if three teams finish tied on points in first place, a mini-league table classifica avulsa is calculated based solely on the points earned by these three teams in direct matches played amongst them. At that stage, the two best-ranked teams face each other in a true one-off playoff, essentially a final, to decide the outcome of the championship.

Following their victory in Bergamo, Inter have secured first place in the mini-league table involving Napoli and Atalanta. Indeed, the team led by Inzaghi stands currently at the top with 8 points, followed by Conte‘s Napoli with 5 points, and finally, Gasperini‘s Atalanta with just 3 points. Thus, Atalanta would be excluded from the Scudetto playoff should all three finish level on points: the championship-deciding playoff match would therefore be contested between Inter and Napoli.
