Compared to what happened in recent years, there is a very real possibility of a delay in the start of the next Serie A championship. The 2025/2026 season, in fact, could be postponed by a few weeks than expected.
This issue was discussed in the meeting between the twenty Serie A clubs held yesterday, to discuss precisely the schedule for next year. This is because, due to the new Club World Cup in June 2025 strongly wanted by Fifa, the current season for several clubs will end later than expected.
In Italy, Inter and Juventus will participate in the new competition that will start in June and end in mid-July, thus following the timing of a regular World Cup for national teams. Hence, the proposal to start the Serie A 2025/26 on the weekend of 23-24 August: a hypothesis that, as reported by Calcio&Finanza, has found agreement especially with Inter and Juventus.
