Great controversy at Inter over the penalty awarded to Fiorentina, which gifted a temporary equalizing goal to the Tuscan team. The handball by Darmian, penalized by La Penna after an on field review indeed seemed excessive.
This was also confirmed by Luca Marelli, a refereeing expert on Dazn, in the post-game. The former referee highlighted that there were no grounds to punish the hand touch of Inter’s defender for several reasons.

What interests us is not the direction of the ball, but whether Darmian’s arm is punishable. It was there, his arm was very wide and he tries to withdraw it, but above all what should be kept in mind and which leads me to its non-punishment is the really minimal distance between Gosens and Darmian. The ball shoots quickly from Gosens’ right to Darmian, in my opinion this is not a penalty kick episode and the on field review seems very forced to me.
