Lautaro Martinez will still be the protagonist of Inter in the 2026/27 season. At the Nerazzurri club, there are no doubts about the Argentine captain’s stay, as reported today by La Gazzetta dello Sport. The interest from Barcelona is considered normal for a player of his caliber, appreciated by the top European clubs, but it does not worry the Inter management.
Before the Covid pandemic, Martinez was actually very close to transferring to Catalonia. However, the deal did not go through and today the situation is completely different. Turning simple interest into a concrete offer is another matter, regardless of how negotiations between Atletico Madrid and Julian Alvarez are progressing, with the Colchoneros currently not intending to let the striker go.
According to the pink newspaper, the Blaugrana will have to look for alternatives to continue the transfer market challenge with the new Real led by Mourinho, but at Inter they would find closed doors. For the Nerazzurri, their number 10 is priceless, especially a week before the start of the championship.
The Catalan club has to deal with a still complex financial situation. Barcelona remains burdened by enormous debt, which has also increased due to the Espai Barça project. In 2025, the club refinanced 424 million in debt, postponing part of the deadlines until 2050. Goldman is reportedly working on a new operation to lighten the cost of stadium financing, while the club seeks other resources to complete the works. A delicate balance that inevitably weighs on transfer market choices. Lautaro, meanwhile, is only pushing to be a starter against Monza.
