On the eve of Inter-Bayern Munich, following coach Simone Inzaghi‘s statements earlier in the afternoon, Bayern’s manager Vincent Kompany also spoke in the press conference. The Belgian coach praised the Nerazzurri but also stated that he and his team remain optimistic about reaching the next round.
MATCH – “Sometimes small things decide games; let’s put it this way. In some matches, very little is needed to determine the outcome, as happened in the first leg. We must recall the opportunities we could have capitalized on and hope to create them again. We all know that details will be decisive, and I think that’s the key to winning the game. Tomorrow, we must aim for victory as we did against Bayer Leverkusen: a draw would have been enough for us, but we pursued victory nonetheless. We want to give our fans another reason to celebrate.”
INTER’S QUALITY – “Understanding immediately what kind of pressing Inter will apply will be crucial for us. If they press high up the pitch, we’ll have to respond in one way; otherwise, we’ll need to adapt accordingly. In matches like these, individual quality also makes the difference—we must rely on our players’ ability to make the right decisions. We remain positive and optimistic and can feel the chance of making it to the final at home in Munich. Right now, however, we have to face the best team in Italy: Inter has great defensive qualities but also plenty of attacking solutions. The game won’t be the same as the first leg, and there is no reason for us not to be positive. What’s important is focusing on winning; the margin of goals doesn’t matter.”
SAN SIRO – “For me this isn’t a normal stadium—it’s special. I regard it as one of Europe’s top 5 stadiums along with Camp Nou, the Bernabéu, Wembley, and our own Allianz Arena. Maybe I’ve forgotten one or two, but still, this stadium remains truly special.”
THURAM – “I’ve watched numerous Inter matches this season, and Thuram’s performances have been outstanding. He’s a player who makes a difference, able to create opportunities out of nothing and force opposing defenders into errors. What’s most important for him is not to doubt himself. Tomorrow he’ll try to display his qualities again, but I hope this time he won’t succeed.”
