Filippo Inzaghi, former striker and current coach of Palermo, spoke about the league and his brother Simone in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. On the topic of the title race, he expressed his point of view: Inter starts with an advantage because they won the scudetto and have a very well-equipped squad. Juventus and Napoli are also completing their squads in an important way, making the league balanced.
Regarding the top scorer ranking, Lautaro is a guarantee, but Inzaghi hopes for the definitive breakthrough of an Italian striker. Scamacca could be the right name for next season. The coach emphasized the need to bring an Italian center forward back to the top of the scoring charts for the good of the national team, also mentioning Raspadori, Pio Esposito, Camarda, Kean, and Cutrone.
About his brother Simone, currently at Al Hilal, Filippo said he feels happy and calm. According to him, he needed to get away from Serie A, a complicated environment where you have to take criticism. The personal choice was the right one, but he is convinced that he will soon return to Italy or Europe because he deserves it.
The results of Italian teams in European cups have made even more evident the value of the path Simone took in the Champions League with Inter. When he lost two finals, perhaps people did not fully realize what it meant to reach the point of playing for the trophy.
