Yann Bisseck has recovered from the blow to the head suffered at the end of the friendly against Milan, caused by an unorthodox challenge from Pervis Estupinan. The German defender spoke to Sky on the eve of the match against Juventus, showing his usual clarity.

On preparation and the upcoming match against the Bianconeri, Bisseck stated: “Yes, but that’s how it should be. I think it’s important during preparation to face matches of this level: playing against such strong teams is a positive thing. We are working well. We’re not at 100% yet, but I believe the path is going in the right direction.”

The center-back then spoke about his role in the center of defense: “Yes, I think we have strong defenders. It doesn’t matter who plays where: for me, it’s not a problem to play in the middle, even if it’s true that when I play as a wide center-back I can push a bit further forward.” When asked if he enjoys playing as a wide center-back more, he replied with a smile: “Yes, it’s normal, defending isn’t always the most enjoyable thing to do. But if I help the team this way, that’s fine for me, in the end what matters is playing, helping the team, having the coach’s trust. Then we’ll see where I’ll play during the season.”

Regarding working with Chivu, Bisseck emphasized: “A lot, I can still improve in many areas. It’s a fortune to have such an experienced coach, who has played at the highest levels and can give you a lot of advice. I always try to learn and put everything into practice on the pitch. For now, I think things are going quite well.”

On seasonal ambitions, the German was clear: “We want to win everything, it’s right to say it. We want to try to win every competition we play: the league, the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa. Even in the Champions we want to take another step forward. In recent years we have had important seasons: winning is never easy, but we want to go all the way in every competition. A club like Inter must have ambitions at this level.”

The contract renewal represents an important signal for him: “Absolutely, for a player it’s fundamental to feel important. In the end, whether I start or not, what I want is to play. I know that in our team there are many strong defenders, but I feel the coach’s trust. If things continue as they did last season, I can be very satisfied. The renewal is also an important signal from the club. I am very happy and I hope my journey continues like this.”

On Stones, Bisseck said: “To achieve our goals, it’s important to have players in the team who have already won and know what it means to do so. Stones is a world-class player: his experience and quality will help us a lot. He is an important addition for the whole team.”

Finally, on the German national team and the new coach Klopp, he concluded: “I can only do one thing: show my qualities on the pitch. Then the decision is up to the coach. If he thinks I can help Germany get back to its former levels, I will be happy; if he doesn’t call me up, it won’t be a surprise. I remain calm and serene. Of course, I hope to be called up, but first of all I have to do well with my club.”
