Balance is needed when evaluating the Nerazzurri’s future. Every Inter fan wants to see champions and superstars wear the Beneamata jersey, and that’s perfectly normal. On the other hand, there are the needs of an ownership that is an investment fund and, by definition, aims to enhance its assets, as well as the requirements of management and players.
Thinking that Inter could sign players like Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, or today Haaland or Mbappé, is unrealistic. You don’t need to work in the industry to understand this: certain signings are simply impossible, and are different from what could be considered excellent deals. Those who choose to believe certain transfer rumors must realize which news might be true and which are spread just to gain approval.
The club’s short-term goal will be to compete in Italy and make a good impression in Europe, and the foundations are there. In the long term, the challenge will be to maintain competitiveness while respecting significant financial constraints. Kvaratskhelia for around 12 million, the transfer fee paid by Napoli, is a practically unrepeatable opportunity. Yet there are also profiles on the market like Sucic for 15 million.
Of course, mistakes cannot be afforded. Free transfers will be players with low salaries. But before imagining that Inter could suffer the sporting fate of Milan and Juventus, that is, staying out of the Champions and watching the Scudetto from afar, it is better to wait and see how events unfold. All current issues should be highlighted, but also the fact that so far the Nerazzurri have always been competitive.
