The goal by Francesco Pio Esposito in Italy‘s victory over Turkey enters the history of the National Team. The Inter striker scored his seventh goal in blue at no more than 21 years of age, a milestone that in the history of Italian football had previously been reached only by Giuseppe Meazza.
As reported by Opta, Meazza scored his seventh goal for the National Team at 20 years and 155 days old, on January 25, 1931. Esposito thus became the second youngest player ever to reach this goal with Italy.
The decisive strike last night gave the team led by Roberto Mancini the certainty of victory. For the young Nerazzurri forward, this is yet another record of precocity with the blue shirt, certifying the constant growth of his journey with the National Team.
