Di Canio: Inter and Roma are more complete, but the Nerazzurri defend poorly

According to Paolo Di Canio, speaking to Sky Sport, Inter and Roma start with a clear advantage over their pursuers in the race for the Scudetto. The former striker emphasizes how the two teams have established certainties, while Juventus and Milan, trailing by two and three points from the top respectively, come from a different path and still appear incomplete.

“Juve and Milan come from a different path compared to Inter and Roma. Inter has also expanded its squad. They always start a bit so-so and need to improve, but Inter and Roma have 80% certainties. The others are incomplete and have cups where they can try to make their mark. Como? It’s hard to see them winning the Scudetto,” says Di Canio.

The analysis then shifts to the match at the Olimpico, compared in intensity to a Premier League clash. “Roma-Inter a Premier League-style match? There was aggression, but also talent. Let’s forget about Inter’s slow starts, as if they still need to wake up. But for pace and desire to overcome, it was a Premier League match,” he continues.

However, Di Canio does not spare criticism for Inter’s defensive phase, pointing the finger particularly at Zielinski. “There is a player who needs to provide balance and is doing very well in dictating the tempo, but in those situations he lacks in the final act, and that’s Zielinski. You also have to look at it from the point of view of balance. Inter concedes even when in control; on Roma’s first goal there is a lack of aggression, attention, there are 6-7 touches, and the approach to the opponent is at a trot.
