Antonio Conte analyzed the World Cup final, speaking on DAZN before and after the match. The former coach commented on the main topics of international football and also addressed rumors about his own future, joking during a live link with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano about the many rumors concerning him.
On the subject of the Italian national team bench, Conte wanted to clarify things. The coach confirmed that he has not received any contact from the FIGC and has not had any discussions with the national team so far, thus denying the rumors that have circulated in recent days. A clear statement that, at least for now, distances the possibility of him taking over the Azzurri bench.
During the broadcast, Conte then addressed the Lautaro Martinez case, who remained on the bench for the entire final without ever coming onto the field. According to the coach, the Argentine striker could have been an important weapon in the final stages of the match. “Lautaro would have been useful, Enzo Fernandez’s sending off changed the plans,” he explained, adding that Scaloni probably intended to bring him on during extra time.
The coach then highlighted the excellent condition of the Inter captain: “It’s a shame because Lautaro was in excellent physical and mental condition and could have helped.” An observation that fuels the debate about the management of the player who brought Lionel Scaloni’s team to the final with the 2-1 goal in stoppage time of the semifinal against England.
