Following Inter’s 2-0 victory over Lazio in the 11th round of Serie A, the Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu spoke at the press conference to comment on the match. Here are his answers to the questions from journalists present in the conference room at San Siro.
SATISFACTION – “For me, there have been few missteps. I don’t look at the standings because it’s too early and my experience as a player tells me this. I’m enjoying the journey. Being aware that we can have our say.”
STANDINGS – “We have lost 3, other teams the same and others have drawn a lot. So far we have had many wins, zero draws and a few defeats, but I repeat that I really don’t look at the standings.”
PERFORMANCE – “We give credit to our opponent, and Lazio is a strong team. We wanted to be dominant. We’ll enjoy the two-week break. We wish good luck to those going on international duty.”
ATTITUDE – “Every now and then we had moments that weren’t up to par because we conceded something. For me, it was a mental issue. Today we tried to give something extra. I liked the approach because the team was confident and we managed to understand the moments and manage our energy.”
HIERARCHIES – “There are no hierarchies. I want to involve all my players. Even those who don’t feel like starters because I know the season is long. If I don’t give everyone the chance to show they are good. And then you can’t just ask for their contribution only if and when someone gets injured. I’m happy to have guys in front of me who accept this. We are aware that you can draw or lose matches but what matters to me is that all of them feel important for this team and for this club.”
