After the defeat against Real Madrid, Cristian Chivu wanted to look beyond the result. Back at Appiano Gentile, the Inter coach conveyed to the team a message focused on the positive aspects of the performance rather than the disappointment of the loss.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri group met yesterday at the training center and 24 hours of rest were enough to leave behind the bitterness of regret. At the Bernabeu, Inter could have earned at least one point, if not three, but Chivu convinced his players that the defeat left something more valuable than their position in the standings: the demonstration that the team can compete on equal terms with anyone in the Champions League, without feeling inferior.
The newspaper emphasizes how Inter will be able to face any stadium and opponent without fear, without holding back their ambitions for glory: the goal of competing until spring, and beyond, seems realistic. About a month will pass before focusing again on Europe, with another seven matches available to correct their path, but in the meantime, the time available will be useful to dedicate every energy to the league alone.
In this perspective, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, an important opportunity is emerging. Tomorrow Lazio will host Milan at the Olimpico, while on Monday Roma will play away at Torino at 6:30 pm. When Inter face Udinese at San Siro on Monday evening, they will already know the outcome of both the Rossoneri and Giallorossi matches. An advantage that could translate into a decisive acceleration.
It should not be forgotten, however, that already last year Udinese inflicted a defeat on Chivu at San Siro on the second matchday of the league.
