Chivu defends Pio Esposito and explains the transfer strategy

Cristian Chivu took stock of the Inter squad and the transfer market choices. The coach reiterated his philosophy in an interview with Sportmediaset, emphasizing how internal competition is the key to raising the level of the team.

“We don’t have fixed starters because fixed places don’t exist in football, because what matters to us is competitiveness, what matters is the individual who makes all his characteristics available to the group,” said Chivu. The coach then had important words for Pio Esposito: “Pio is important for us in many matches, he is important for us for how he fits into the group, he is important for us for how he trains and for how he raises the level of his teammates in the department.”
