Cristian Chivu spoke about the condition of Lautaro Martinez and Inter’s transfer market in an interview given to Sportmediaset. The Nerazzurri coach focused on the captain, the young forwards, and the summer transfer campaign.
About the Argentine, Chivu stated: “He is our captain, for the love he has for these colors, this feeling for this team, for this group, for what was perhaps the disappointment of a lost World Cup final. I saw him very motivated, I saw him with the right ambition, as soon as the World Cup ended, to return as soon as possible, and he did it early, where on vacation he only took a couple of days off. He started working already during his vacation and I see him almost ready to have a great season.”
The coach then praised the Nerazzurri’s transfer market: “We made a clear-headed transfer market, we tried to bring more quality and raise the level regarding a squad that was already strong, already competitive, as it showed last year and in previous years. We have the obligation to maintain a high level, we have the obligation to maintain what this team, this club has done well in recent years.”
On Pio Esposito, Chivu emphasized: “We don’t have fixed starters because fixed places don’t exist in football, because what matters to us is competitiveness, we care about the individual who puts all his characteristics at the disposal of the group. Pio is important for us in many matches, he is important for us for how he fits into the group, he is important for us for how he trains and for how he raises the level of his teammates in the department.”
Finally, speaking about offensive alternatives, the coach revealed: “We have the fifth, sixth, and seventh striker, not necessarily in this order, there are Lavelli, Mosconi, and Idrissou.” Chivu refused to comment on players from other teams, limiting himself to praising the overall level of Serie A.
