Chivu beats Inzaghi: this statistic about Inter is sensational

Inter continues to prove itself as the most prolific team in Serie A. The numbers speak for themselves: it is the club that scores the most in the first half – already eight times – and also in the second half, with nine goals. No one does better even in headers (five goals) or in build-up play (thirteen), while four goals have come directly from corner kicks.

As summarized by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter is a complete goal machine. The figures say it, and so does the quality of the attack built by Cristian Chivu. With 17 goals in the league – five more than leaders Napoli – the Nerazzurri have sent a strong signal to the league, reaffirming their offensive superiority. To these numbers are added the five goals scored in Europe: two in Amsterdam against Ajax and three on the triumphant night at San Siro against Slavia Prague.

Twenty-two goals in total, a haul that even surpasses the best season of Simone Inzaghi (20 goals in 2021-22). Such numbers had not been seen since the distant 1997-98 season: not even the Inter of the Treble had such scoring ability. Back then, Ronaldo was dominating; today, instead, there is a sort of ‘happy democracy’ in attack. The pair Thuram–Lautaro remains the main engine of the offensive department, but behind them a generation of young players is growing, gaining space and confidence.

All four strikers in the squad have already found the way to goal, a sign of the group’s depth and health. Only on one occasion have the Nerazzurri failed to score with their strikers: in the 2-1 win against Sassuolo, decided by Dimarco and an own goal by Muharemovic, a young Bosnian defender already on the radar of Inter’s management.
