One of the best Italian players in recent years is undoubtedly Marco Verratti, a midfielder of immense talent who between 2012 and 2023 has significantly contributed to the recent history of Paris Saint Germain. However, he has never debuted in the Serie A.

The class of 1992 player indeed made the leap from Serie B, where he emerged as a rising star in the 2011/12 season with his team Pescara, directly to PSG in France. Despite his years of playing for the Italian National team, Verratti is one of the few called-up players who have never debuted in the top Italian championship.

However, this fact could change soon, at least according to the Spanish daily Marca. According to this Iberian source, the former Pescara and PSG midfielder is no longer happy with his new experience in Qatar, where he plays for Al-Arabi. The Inter club is reportedly interested in him.

Verratti’s contract expires on June 30, 2025, so there are only a few months left before he becomes a free agent. Inter’s president Beppe Marotta could hence make the decisive move as early as January, beating the competition and making an attempt to bring the Italian player back to Italy after many years.

However, there’s the issue linked to his wages. Verratti earns about 30 million euros per season in Qatar, and to sign with Inter, he would need to completely reconsider his salary expectations. However, with the prospect of finally debuting in Serie A, this could also happen, according to Marca.
