Zvonimir Boban shared his thoughts on Inter in the Sky Sport studios, on the eve of the Bernabéu clash against Real Madrid. The former Rossoneri player analyzed the statements of Cristian Chivu, the tactical choices, and the key Nerazzurri players expected to shine on the European stage.
According to Boban, the Inter coach’s statement about not having to prove anything was unfortunate: “Yesterday does not exist in football. Only tomorrow and the next match exist. Even when you win the match and it’s over and you’ve won, under the shower you’re already thinking about the next one.” However, the pundit appreciated Chivu’s comments on the quality of Inter’s midfielders, emphasizing how the squad can compete with Real Madrid, a team boasting champions like Mbappé, Vinicius, and Bellingham.
On the tactical front, Boban highlighted the key role of Nicolò Barella for the match: “I believe he has a fundamental role tonight. Because Diouf will struggle and the Italian player will have to be good at helping out, doubling up even when he stays high, he’ll have to help defend.” The former midfielder insisted on the need for defensive support when out of possession.
Words of praise were reserved for Lautaro Martinez, described as the protagonist of a “beautiful story” with the Nerazzurri shirt: “A wonderful demonstration of belonging. He loves Inter and the Inter fans love him so much; he has given so much, continues to score, has a lot of character, a great player. I’m glad he stayed.”
Finally, Boban commented on Inter’s signings, expressing doubts about Jones and stating: “I would have picked Sucic. And I’m not saying that because he’s Croatian, I really believe in this guy: he’s an extraordinary player even for these matches and he proved it at the World Cup and last year with important goals even in the CL. Plus, he’s fast. Tonight Real won’t be compact in chasing the ball quickly and in the last match they risked a lot on every counterattack.”
