Bastoni before Shakhtar: «Tomorrow is fundamental, we want to be in the top eight»

With zero points in the first two matchdays of the League Phase of the Champions, Inter cannot afford another misstep. Bastoni knows this well, and he made no bones about the importance of the match against Shakhtar when speaking to Inter TV: “The match against Shakhtar is not important, it is fundamental.”

The Nerazzurri defender explained what is at stake: “Getting zero or one point after three matchdays would definitely compromise our path and our goal, which is to get into the top eight. Tomorrow we absolutely need a win.” A win at San Siro, therefore, which at this stage of the tournament is worth double.

Bastoni then spoke about the resources available to the team: “We know that our squad is deep, we have strong players who can play at any time.” This is a factor to take into account, but it is not enough on its own: the defender also pointed out the areas to work on. “The hope is not to fall behind, which has been a constant this season. We will have to limit mistakes because in the Champions League it is different.”
