Nicolò Barella, captain of Inter for the match against Udinese at San Siro, spoke to Sky Sport microphones on the eve of the match. The midfielder addressed several topics, from the defeat at the Bernabeu to the season objectives of the Italian champion club.
On the performance in the Champions League, Barella highlighted the positive aspects: “You have to take something positive from defeats: at the Bernabeu we went out and played openly against one of the strongest teams in the world and having our chances is something that is expected from Inter. There are some details to fine-tune but it’s still the beginning of the season.”
On the league and defending the title, the Nerazzurri midfielder left no room for doubt: “The league is a stage race, you have to be good and focused in every match. All games give three points even if some have more appeal. Since I’ve been at Inter the imperative has been to win and this year it’s the same. We want to make it tough for anyone who wants to take the Scudetto from us.”
Finally, a comment on the new arrivals and internal competition: “Competition makes everyone grow and helps us improve. This year, international-level champions have arrived who give us insight into how other clubs work. But this is a strong team that wants to go all the way in every competition and that’s what we’ll try to do.”
