One of the most intriguing transfer scenarios for the upcoming market, and one that Inter have never really abandoned these past months, involves Jonathan David. The Canadian striker, as we have reported for several months, will leave Lille at the end of the season on a free transfer due to his expiring contract.
The Nerazzurri club has been repeatedly linked to the player born in 2000, along with other top European teams. The future of David and the realistic possibility of his joining Inter next summer have been discussed on the Passione Inter YouTube channel together with journalist Giorgio Musso.
REAL INTEREST – He is a player whom Ausilio appreciates a great deal, one who has already been tracked for at least two to three years. However, he would come as an alternative rather than a guaranteed starter to the likes of Lautaro and Thuram. Inter are looking more for someone who could rotate regularly but not necessarily as an immediate first-choice starter. The player himself is asking for guarantees, not just financially but also regarding playing time. With Lautaro and Thuram upfront, he wouldn’t immediately have a starter’s jersey, perhaps not even as the season progresses.
FIGURES – It’s true that he would arrive as a free agent, but factoring in a five-year contract worth 5-6 million euros per season plus agent commissions, we’d be looking at an overall cost close to 70 million euros. Even though the transfer itself would be free, it would still represent a significant investment. Inter already have two clear starters, and are currently looking more for alternatives to give Lautaro and Thuram breaks. David himself is considering a team that provides him with a central role in their project.
