The pundit and former footballer Massimo Orlando commented on the current situation of Inter on ‘Maracanà’, a Radio TMW show. At the center of the analysis was the 3-1 defeat in the derby against Milan and tomorrow night’s match against Feyenoord in the Champions League, scheduled at De Kuip in Rotterdam.
On the moment of the team coached by Cristian Chivu, Orlando has no doubts: «Cycle over? No, it’s not over. But I say that the defense is weak. Inter used to be a team that pressed, put you in a corner, and I haven’t seen them do that at all in the last month. Chivu has really been struck by ‘phenomenitis’.»
The former footballer then pointed the finger at the tactical management in the derby: «If you put Bonny and Pio Esposito on the pitch it means that at least for one half they could play and you could have gone with the classic 3-5-2, and you can’t experiment right in the derby.»
The comparison with last season is clear. «Last year’s Inter played, kept possession, put you in trouble, now they always start off at a slow pace. Why? They have a united group and the desire to win, but I fear that the coach can’t get it into the players’ heads that they need to go in with a different attitude.»
